S St NW - Row-house Kitchen & Powder Room Renovation
This kitchen renovation in Washington DC modernized a home that had never been renovated, requiring both structural intervention and a complete redesign of the kitchen layout. The project included a full reconfiguration of the space, upgraded finishes, and adjustments to the rear façade to support the new layout and improve natural light.
Because the house had remained untouched for decades, the renovation uncovered significant structural issues, including rotted joists, uneven walls, and outdated electrical systems. The team replaced all compromised joists, corrected wall levels, and performed a full electrical upgrade to bring the home up to modern standards.
The new kitchen follows a traditional design, respecting the character of the home while introducing a cleaner, more functional layout. Updated cabinetry, improved lighting, and a more efficient configuration give the space a renewed sense of warmth and usability.
UNIK Creative Studio handled permitting and coordinated the rear façade adjustments, ensuring the structural and architectural changes aligned with DC code requirements.
The result is a dramatic transformation: what was once an aging, structurally compromised kitchen is now a safe, refreshed, and beautifully updated traditional space that meets the homeowner’s needs for daily living.
